One Health for Planetary Health — Symposium at Atria University

Dr. Jagadish Mittur, Hon. President of IBioM, organised a one-day symposium on “One Health for Planetary Health” in collaboration with Atria University.

The inaugural session featured addresses by Dr. Sunder Raju and Mr. Naveen Kulkarni, with a keynote from Prof. Usha Vijayraghavan of the Indian Institute of Science.

Expert-led sessions covered zoonotic diseases and pandemic prevention, climate and environmental health impacts, antimicrobial resistance, genomics, AI and digital health, sustainable food systems, and biodiversity.

A special session on Empowering Teenagers for One Health drew school students and educators, with students presenting posters and community-based action plans built around One Health principles.

The symposium closed with a panel discussion on implementing One Health across urban and rural policy, emphasising cross-sector collaboration and integrated governance to safeguard the health of people, animals and the planet.
